PACU RN - Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit

This is a 12-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating shifts of three 12-hour daytime shifts (07:00 - 19:00) and three 12-hour nighttime shifts (19:30 - 07:30) are required. Weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory.

Job Description

The Main PACU is a 28-bay unit providing 24/7 specialized peri-anesthesia care to a diverse patient demographic, including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This unit supports various surgical and procedural services, delivering vigilant pre and post-operative care to both inpatients and outpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgeries.

Responsibilities

Competently provide pre and post-operative care in a high-acuity environment.
Manage titration of vasopressors and airway maintenance for ventilated patients.
Administer blood products and perform fluid resuscitation as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with charge experience preferred.
Active Maryland State Nursing License.
ACLS and BLS certifications are required; NIHSS and PALS are preferred.
Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center is strongly preferred.
