Shifts include Days, Evenings, Nights, Rotating Shift Schedules, On Call, Call Back, Charge, Holidays, and Weekends as needed.

Job Description

The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if the patient's condition is serious enough for admission to the hospital or if the patient can be treated and released home safely. The Observation unit is a very fast-paced environment that turns over 20 to 27 patients per day, with an average length of stay of 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider coverage, caring for a diverse adult population of both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients, ranging from short stays to full admissions.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult patients requiring observation.
• Monitor patient conditions and assess the need for further treatment.
• Work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• RN License (New York State Only)
• Two years of Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience required
• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• NIHSS certification preferred
