Job Description
The Cardiovascular Tech I will assist physicians with all procedures related to Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Atherectomy, and other cardiovascular technologies. The role involves acquiring skills to support new technologies arising from research and development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile trays and organize specific equipment for each procedure.
- Prepare patients prior to procedures, including EKG lead attachment and betadine scrubs.
- Assist the cardiac catheterization nurse in patient preparation for monitoring.
- Calibrate and test transducers for accurate pressure readings.
- Assist physicians throughout diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Load and operate power injectors.
- Utilize and maintain standards for digital cine technologies and patient imaging records.
- Assist in emergency situations to maintain patient well-being.
- Manage inventory control for non-store room supplies.
- Assist with maintenance and calibration of diagnostic and technical equipment.
- Identify patient needs and modify care accordingly.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Must have 2 years prior experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory or invasive procedure area in an acute care hospital.
- 6-12 months in a CVT accredited program or 2 years in another cardiac vascular laboratory.
- Familiarity with computers, hemodynamic monitoring, and sterile operative techniques.
