This position is located in a healthcare facility within a 50-mile radius of the specified area.
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule / Shift
12-hour day and night rotating shifts will be required, including weekends as scheduled.
Job Description
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) is looking for dedicated Registered Nurses to provide exceptional care to patients. Nurses in this unit work with a ratio goal of 1:4, typically running at a ratio of 1:5. Responsibilities may include the management of patients with various conditions, including chest pain, heart failure, and arrhythmias. Nurses will have access to support from an in-house IV team and pharmacy available 24/7, along with a dedicated respiratory therapy team.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Monitor and manage patients on IV drips, with the ability to titrate medications such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro.
- Read and interpret telemetry strips, with support from telemetry technicians.
- Perform patient assessments and maintain accurate medical records using Allscripts.
- Coordinate patient care with the healthcare team, including hospitalists and intensivists.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- NIHSS certification preferred.
- Valid nursing license to practice in the state of employment.
- Experience in an intermediate care unit or similar setting is beneficial.
