This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

12-hour day shifts, including weekends as scheduled. Staff are required to work a minimum of 3 night shifts every 4-week schedule if working straight days.

Job Description

The Intermediate Care Unit is a 30-bed unit providing specialized care for patients with intermediate acuity. The nurse will manage patient assignments while ensuring optimal patient care. The unit operates with tele techs; therefore, nurses must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips. Responsibilities may include titrating various drips and assisting with respiratory equipment managed by respiratory therapists.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients requiring intermediate care, including those with chest pain, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
• Monitor and titrate medications including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro, among others.
• Collaborate with an in-house IV team for IV placements and management.
• Float as needed into telemetry or MedSurg as per unit requirements.
• Document patient care effectively using the EPIC charting system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Active nursing license.
• Experience in an intermediate care or telemetry nursing setting preferred.
