This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Weekends: Friday - 10:30 AM to Midnight, Saturday - 8 AM to Midnight, Sunday - 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Must be available for on-call shifts 2-3 times per month, and able to report within 30 minutes for on-call needs.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for verifying patients' identity and reviewing physician orders before performing x-ray procedures. The role involves using x-ray equipment to take radiographic images, explaining procedures to patients, and positioning patients as necessary. The technologist must ensure the safe use of radiologic equipment while maintaining patient safety and keeping radiation dose to a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders.
• Take high-quality radiographic images as per physicians' orders.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address their questions.
• Position patients properly, including lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
• Monitor patient status and adjust techniques based on age-specific needs.
• Report malfunctioning x-ray equipment to management promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems for accurate record-keeping.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license (or ability to obtain license prior to starting).
• Minimum of two years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Recent operating room experience and familiarity with c-arm/o-arm equipment.
