Schedule

3x12 hour day/night shifts variable (scheduled as needed by client) + every other weekend, holidays, and 2 on-call shifts within a 4-week period.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions and is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and analyzing data obtained through observation and assessment.
• Creates developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant individualized plans of care.
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
• Educates patients and families on self-care and lifestyle changes required for health and healing beyond hospitalization.
• Documents education provided and patient/family responses to foster understanding and retention of key points.
• Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and engages in self-evaluation for professional development.
• Develops trusting relationships with patients and their families, focusing on the importance of creating a healing environment.
• Demonstrates skill in medication administration and application of nursing interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS
• One (1) year experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse required
