Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport as medically prescribed. They evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans, explain procedures, and provide necessary education upon discharge. The role involves conducting physician-prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory equipment, and administering medications while ensuring effective ventilation and oxygenation for patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients using various methods.
• Monitor patients with oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures.
• Perform necessary care related to tracheostomy, including tube insertion and removal.
• Conduct arterial punctures and monitor test results for efficiency of ventilation.
• Maintain accurate records of treatments and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of mechanical ventilation equipment.
• Perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation following BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Schedule

This position operates on a Day 3x12.0 schedule.
