Schedule
This position involves a flexible schedule with full-time day/night variable shifts consisting of three twelve-hour shifts per week, plus two on-call shifts per four-week period. Weekend and holiday shifts are required as scheduled.
Job Description
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) applies comprehensive nursing knowledge, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, prioritizes urgent or emergent care, and collaboratively provides direct care while applying appropriate interventions and evaluating patient progress.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient triage and establish initial management for patients across all age groups.
- Perform primary assessments and document deviations from norms within established time frames.
- Address psychosocial needs and report any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse.
- Develop rapport with patients and families, providing frequent updates and addressing comfort needs.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, treatments, and post-emergency referrals.
- Educate patients and families on care requirements and ensure understanding of discharge instructions.
- Work collaboratively with team members to foster mutual trust and respect, delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with infection prevention strategies to ensure public safety.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (must be compliant with AHA or RQI standards).
- Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department setting.
- Valid RN licensure in the applicable state.
