X-Ray Technologist

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Weekends: Friday 10:30 AM - Midnight, Saturday 8:00 AM - Midnight, Sunday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (36 hours preferred; would consider 40 hours). On-call, callback, and holidays as per unit needs.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality diagnostics while maintaining patient safety and comfort. This position requires on-call duties and the ability to respond within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician's orders before conducting procedures.
• Operate x-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images as per physician's instructions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
• Properly position patients, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Ensure all radiologic equipment is handled safely and maintain low dosage levels for patients.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to ensure accurate record-keeping.
• Maintain compliance with dual patient identifier procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• Minimum of 2 years of X-Ray Technologist experience.
• Experience at a Level 1 trauma center.
• Must have recent operating room experience, including the use of c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to lift or move patients and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
