Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Advanced Care Unit (Stepdown). This unit specializes in Stroke, Trauma, and Vascular care, and is equipped with 30 private rooms. Nurses will work in a ratio of 1 to 4, providing high-acuity care to patients with various conditions including fresh carotids, DKA, and post-catheterization patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care for stepdown acuity patients.
• Monitor and read cardiac strips; verify and sign-off on strips.
• Titrate drips such as Cardizem, Insulin, and Heparin as per physician's orders.
• Collaborate with charge nurse and other staff to meet patient care needs.
• Utilize CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen for respiratory support.

Schedule

This position requires 12-hour day shifts, with weekends scheduled as needed. The self-scheduling process allows for flexibility, although block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Previous experience in a stepdown or ICU setting, with strong skills in reading cardiac strips.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
