Job Description
The Labor and Delivery RN is responsible for providing full-spectrum care in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum, and Newborn care within an 8-bed unit. The RN will function independently in a rural setting, managing high-risk labor, performing C-section circulation, and participating in neonatal resuscitation. The role includes transitioning between labor, nursery, and couplet assignments based on patient needs and staffing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide care in Labor & Delivery, Newborn Nursery, and Postpartum/Couplet Care.
- Manage intrapartum care including induction, augmentation, and high-risk labor monitoring.
- Circulate C-sections and provide immediate newborn stabilization.
- Conduct routine newborn assessments and provide postpartum care for stable mothers and infants.
- Interpret fetal heart rates and manage Pitocin titration.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Active RN Licensure.
- BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC).
- NRP and WHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Experience in high-risk labor management, C-section circulation, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Preferred: Previous rural hospital experience and experience in an LDRP model.
