Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Step-Down Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 year of recent Step-Down experience. The RN will be responsible for providing care to patients with critical medical conditions, particularly those with cardiac and respiratory issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-heart catheterization care, including monitoring of vital signs and neurovascular checks.
• Manage patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), respiratory failure, and cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, including emergency medications and cardiac drips, with appropriate monitoring and documentation.
• Perform IV starts, maintenance, and PICC line management.
• Assist with chest tube insertion and removal as necessary.
• Utilize the Pyxis medication system for medication administration and management.
• Implement infection prevention measures and adhere to isolation precautions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including Physical Therapy and Respiratory Services.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license in the respective state.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• At least 1 year of Step-Down unit experience is required; 1 year of post-cath experience is preferred.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management.
• Familiarity with Allscripts charting system is required.
