Job Description
The CVICU Registered Nurse will provide care for adult and geriatric patients undergoing cardiac surgery, including immediate post-operative care and management of complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac surgery with a focus on ventilator management and hemodynamic stability.
- Provide a 1:1 nursing ratio for the first 12 hours post-op, transitioning to 1:2 as patients stabilize.
- Utilize specialized equipment, including Flo Trac, CRRT, IABP, and Impella for patient care.
- Administer medications and blood products as prescribed, ensuring adherence to protocols for critical care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Float to Intermediate Care (IMC) as needed, adhering to established patient ratios.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 2+ years of CVICU or open heart experience required.
- Current RN license in the state of Maryland or compact state.
- Current certifications in ACLS and BLS.
- Preferred experience with Epic charting system and previous charge nurse experience.
