Job Description

The competent Registered Nurse in a perinatal specialty demonstrates independence and awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care while managing contingencies in clinical nursing. The nurse will be responsible for making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers to ensure effective management of the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
• Must possess a valid RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications required.
• Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or completion of applicable AWHONN courses is required.
