Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains a high standard of quality care by following the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees in a collaborative healthcare environment, emphasizing patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
• Document all assessments and patient responses accurately in medical records as per policy.
• Engage in patient rehabilitation programs, prioritizing education based on health care needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching on the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
• Oversee and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel while utilizing problem-solving techniques.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety according to nursing policies and procedures.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning through effective teamwork and support.
• Communicate with management regarding service needs and maintain cost-effective care while promoting quality outcomes.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
• Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific facility only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
