Description

Radiologic Technologist I

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

10:00 PM - 8:00 AM, 4-10 hour shifts, every third weekend, holidays as needed, no on-call.

Job Description

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The role includes performing essential functions as outlined below.

Responsibilities

  • Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
  • Restricts the radiation beam to provide non-exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
  • Performs portable x-ray examinations in various settings including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms.
  • Identifies patient films correctly, marking them as required.
  • Develops exposed x-ray film using appropriate processing methods.
  • Completes patient requisitions with accurate details about the examinations conducted.
  • Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department.
  • Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists in its administration to patients.
  • Handles administrative duties related to scheduling, patient instruction, and film filing.
  • Provides assistance to patients in moving and positioning for x-ray procedures based on individual needs.
  • Communicates effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to their developmental and educational levels.
  • Adheres to the organization’s standards and competencies.

Required Experience and Certifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care facility.
  • Must be able to work independently in emergency, trauma, and OR settings.
  • Experience with portable x-ray procedures, including pediatrics.
  • Must possess a New Jersey State License.
  • Completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and clinical requirements.
