Job Description
The oncology nurse will provide specialized care to patients in a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit. Candidates must possess oncology experience and a chemotherapy certification. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, monitoring patient vitals and telemetry, and performing infrequent bone marrow biopsies.
Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and manage patient care.
- Monitor patient vitals and observe telemetry readings.
- Conduct bedside shift reports and safety rounds.
- Participate in team management and coordinate care with staff.
- Assist with infrequent bone marrow biopsies and related procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Oncology nursing experience is required.
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS) is mandatory.
- ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
- Experience in a BMT unit is preferred.
- Competence in reading telemetry and administering medication through simple titration of drips is required.
