Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Surgical Unit is responsible for providing competent and compassionate patient care across the continuum from pediatric to geriatric patients. Utilizing strong assessment and clinical skills, the RN will ensure safe and effective delivery of care by adhering to documentation guidelines, ensuring patient safety, and demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough and systematic patient assessments based on developmental stages.
• Demonstrate competent clinical skills in patient care activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of the nursing process and patient progress.
• Respond to patients and families professionally and courteously, ensuring a patient-centered environment.
• Follow national patient safety goals and utilize effective safety measures in patient care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical conditions, procedures, and equipment.
• Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care based on individual needs.
• Provide patient education related to surgical procedures and instructions.
• Evaluate pre-admission testing for appropriateness and potential omissions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
