Level 1 RN Psych ER - Straight Nights

Job Description

The Level 1 RN in the Psychiatric Emergency Room is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing mental health crises. This role requires conducting thorough assessments, implementing effective treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care tailored to the needs of patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients, recommending treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications, monitoring and documenting patient reactions.
• Arranging further medical attention when necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding their emotional disturbances and the need for treatment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment for both staff and patients.
• Monitor vital signs and manage treatment of pain.
• Document all patient information accurately on medical charts and follow physician's orders.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, and completing progress notes in the computer system.
• Provide high-quality service to patients and the public, responding to requests for service or referrals.

Schedule

This position operates on a straight nights schedule, including holidays, on-call, and possible charge per unit duties.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active RN License in New York (NY License ONLY)
• BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA ONLY)
• Telemetry experience
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a related field
