Job Description

The Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide care for critically ill and postoperative cardiothoracic and cardiovascular patients. The OHICU has 10 beds and offers advanced care including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and emergency cardiac interventions.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients recovering from open-heart surgery and other complex cardiac procedures.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs and hemodynamic data.
• Provide ventilator and advanced cardiac life support management.
• Administer medications, including blood products and continuous IV sedation.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
• Participate in bedside procedures and emergency interventions related to cardiac care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of experience in critical care, preferably within cardiac or surgical ICUs.
• Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Experience with Epic charting system is required.
• Ability to pass EKG exam on the first attempt, with cancellation risks if failed.
