Schedule

Full-time, day/night variable shifts (3x12s) scheduled as needed, plus every other weekend, holiday, and 2 on-call shifts per 4 weeks.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care, applying appropriate interventions and evaluating patient progress. The role requires proficiency in various invasive and non-invasive procedures to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations, while also addressing the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients across all age groups.

Responsibilities

• Connects with patients and families during triage, establishing rapport and prioritizing care based on Triage Standards.
• Conducts primary assessments of critical needs and detects deviations from norms, documenting findings accurately.
• Encourages mutual trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Teaches patients and families about care procedures, assessing learning styles to ensure understanding.
• Maintains awareness of the patient's condition and updates communication boards throughout the ED stay.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI).
• Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse.
• One year of Emergency Department experience as a Registered Nurse.
