Shift: Four 10-hour shifts, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility to work variable hours.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Pre-Op/Day Surgery/Phase II Recovery unit is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes through effective planning, assessment, and implementation of nursing interventions.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
• Monitor patients during the post-anesthesia care phase, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Administer medications, including pain management, as directed by the physician.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active Texas RN License (temp licenses are not accepted).
• 2+ years of hospital or travel experience in a surgical nursing setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Experience in Pre-op and Phase II recovery preferred.
• IV skills and familiarity with Meditech documentation system are advantageous.
