Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The role involves working with a diverse patient population and utilizing advanced medical equipment while ensuring adherence to hospital protocols.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including cardiac and insulin drips.
• Perform patient assessments and critical care procedures.
• Conduct peritoneal dialysis and coordinate patient care activities.
• Participate in hourly and 2-hour rounding and maintain communication boards.
• Provide patient and family education regarding care and treatments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assist in the training and supervision of nursing assistants and tech staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.
• Experience with cardiac drips, EKG rhythm interpretation, and critical thinking skills is mandatory.
• Experience with multiple oxygen delivery systems and peritoneal dialysis is preferred.
• Prior experience in PCU or similar settings.
