Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse

Job Description

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art environment providing specialized patient care to adult inpatients and outpatients undergoing interventional radiology procedures such as biopsies, embolizations, ablations, angiography, drain placements, and other image-guided interventions. The Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) is responsible for preparing patients, monitoring them during procedures, and overseeing their recovery post-procedure, including in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and extended stay areas (23-hour). As part of the critical embolization response team for trauma patients, this role demands critical thinking, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The IR RN collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures
• Monitor patients throughout procedures ensuring safety and comfort
• Manage post-procedure recovery, including care in PACU and 23-hour stay
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality patient care
• Participate in the critical embolization response team for trauma
• Adhere to infection prevention measures in procedural areas

Schedule

This position includes a 4x10 hour shift schedule, requiring availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as needed by the unit.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York State RN License
• BLS Certification (AHA only)
• ACLS Certification (AHA only)
• Telemetry experience
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Interventional Radiology
