Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring adherence to the nursing care plan. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees while promoting patient and employee safety in a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to the patient’s diagnosis through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with a focus on education.
- Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission, anticipating patient teaching needs.
- Communicate changes in patient’s status effectively to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to team dynamics and the overall functioning of the unit.
- Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
