Physical Therapist Assistant

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. No weekends.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy or a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing physical therapy to patients. This description outlines various duties and responsibilities associated with this role, which may be revised at the organization’s discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatment as directed by the primary Physical Therapist, promptly communicating if the treatment plan requires adjustments.
  • Observe, evaluate, and document the effects of treatments, ensuring thorough communication.
  • Maintain organized and accurate patient records that include objective findings, with all entries properly dated and timed.
  • Create a safe treatment environment that minimizes healthcare-related errors while ensuring cleanliness.
  • Interact professionally with patients and their families, involving them in the care plan.
  • Schedule patients effectively and complete charting in accordance with clinic practice and policy.
  • Assist in ordering supplies while maintaining adequate inventory levels.
  • Safely and effectively utilize physical therapy modalities and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to foster a team approach to patient care.
  • Comply with all relevant state laws and standards in the practice of physical therapy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Graduate of an APTA-approved Physical Therapist Assistant Program and licensed by the State of California.
  • Desirable experience in acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient physical therapy settings.
  • Maintains PTA license and BCLS certification without any lapses.
  • Ongoing professional development through independent study and continuing education.
