Level II Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit

Schedule

This position follows a rotating shift schedule of 3x12.0, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback duties as needed.

Job Description

The Level II Registered Nurse is responsible for providing competent care in accordance with established standards, under the guidance of the Nurse Manager. This role includes charge nurse duties, preceptorship, and participation in committees. Nurses in this position work on a diverse surgical unit, caring for patients undergoing thoracic, foregut, and plastic surgeries, including those with burns. The unit houses stepdown beds for post-operative patients requiring closer monitoring and specializes in the management of pulmonary hypertension through a dedicated care center.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a variety of surgical patients.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including telemetry needs.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
• Take on charge nurse responsibilities as needed.
• Act as a preceptor for new nursing staff.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Two years of telemetry experience is required.
• Current RN License (New York only).
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
