Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the professional scope of licensure and with minimal supervision. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending effective treatment plans, as well as explaining procedures, treatments, and equipment to patients, providing essential education upon discharge.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, as well as oxygen and aerosol devices.
- Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
- Monitor oximetry and capnography, and perform routine evaluations of patient chest x-rays.
- Carry out 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition, along with pulmonary function studies.
- Assist in procedures related to respiratory care (e.g., Bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, Chest Tube placement).
- Perform tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
- Manage arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency, while documenting and reporting test results.
- Adhere to laboratory testing protocols for specimen handling, quality control, and documentation.
- Execute cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Record pertinent information regarding treatments and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Active and valid state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Experience with mechanical ventilation and various respiratory modalities is highly preferred.

This position operates on a night shift, specifically 1x12.0 hours.
