Level II Registered Nurse - Stepdown/PCU

Job Description

The Level II Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, is accountable for the provision of competent care based on established standards. This role includes responsibilities such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member. An emphasis is placed on clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and research and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for patients requiring stepdown/PCU services.
• Perform neuro checks, manage devices such as EVDs, lumbar drains, and sub-dural drains.
• Administer medications and manage drips, including 3% NS and Cardene.
• Monitor patients with high acuity conditions, including stroke and neurosurgery cases.
• Coordinate care as a charge nurse and guide nursing staff when necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have stepdown/PCU experience.
• A minimum of two (2) years of RN experience is required.
• Current RN License in New York is mandatory.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Telemetry experience is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• NIHSS certification is a plus.
