Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatric Emergency Room

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Psychiatric Emergency Room care. This role involves conducting intake assessments, providing nursing care, administering medications, and collaborating with behavioral health staff to create effective treatment plans. The RN will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff while delivering high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and their families to gather comprehensive case histories.
• Plan and provide nursing care tailored to individual patient needs.
• Make nursing diagnoses regarding the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend appropriate treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff in designing suitable treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications and monitor patient reactions.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and the necessity of treatment.
• Ensure a secure environment for both staff and patients.
• Document all patient information accurately in medical charts, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with medical recordkeeping standards.
• Perform administrative tasks, including filing, answering phones, and completing progress notes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New York RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience, with telemetry experience preferred

Schedule

This position requires a rotating shift schedule, including day, evening, and night shifts.
