Registered Echo Technologist

Job Description

The Registered Echo Technologist performs and assists with cardiovascular procedures ordered by physicians to assist in patient diagnosis. This role entails a wide variety of duties related to non-invasive cardiopulmonary procedures while ensuring high standards of quality care are maintained. The professional will also enhance positive relations with patients, families, and medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures to locate, evaluate, and record anatomical, pathological, and functional data for diagnosis.
• Conduct stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echoes, 2-D echocardiograms, color flow, and cardiac Doppler.
• Perform cardiovascular diagnostic tests, including EKGs and pulmonary function tests.
• Record procedure data in patient charts and immediately inform physicians of life-threatening test results.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper function of cardiology equipment and accessories.
• Assist in clerical duties, supply inventory, and transportation of patients as needed.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and quality improvement activities.
• Supervise and instruct students and new employees as needed.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and rights.
• Perform CPR when necessary and maintain a safe work environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Vascular/Echocardiography from an accredited institution or equivalent on-the-job training.
• CCI or ARDMS registered cardiac sonographer certification or registry eligibility required.
• CPR certification required.
• 1-2 years of experience as an echocardiography technician preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical interventions and equipment used for patient care is essential.

Schedule

This is a dayshift position. The successful candidate will be expected to work 40 hours weekly.
