Job Description
The Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, develops, administers, directs, and supervises OT treatment in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines. This position requires adherence to the focus on patient and employee safety, along with a commitment to quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient’s level of functioning upon physician orders and implement appropriate treatments.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary team process and contribute to discharge planning.
- Complete thorough and accurate documentation in compliance with department policies.
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, and assist with the orientation of new staff and students.
- Promote a customer service attitude towards patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
- Complete evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' needs and goals.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring understanding at their level.
- Document training and use of equipment with patients and/or families.
- Maintain awareness of safety procedures and promote a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Attend team conferences and collaborate with team members to enhance patient care.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- Must hold a valid, current State license as an Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field is required.
