Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while promoting a safe and effective work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, developing individualized plans of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates during team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately according to policy.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and prioritize patient education.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate all pertinent information regarding patient status changes.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in compliance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
- Pursue own professional growth and development through continuing education.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
Schedule
This position is scheduled for night shifts, working 4 days on and 12-hour shifts.
