Description

Preoperative / PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

On-call requirement includes roughly 3-4 weeknight calls and one 24-hour weekend call in an 8-week period. Weeknight call hours are from 9 PM to 7 AM, and weekend call hours are from 7 AM to 7 AM.

Shifts may include:

  • 6 AM - 6 PM
  • 7 AM - 7 PM
  • 8 AM - 8 PM
  • 9 AM - 9 PM

Job Description

The Preoperative / PACU RN will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care for patients in the preoperative and post-anesthesia care unit environments. This role includes critical assessment, patient education, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patients in the PACU, managing symptoms and ensuring comfort as they recover from anesthesia.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to communicate patient status and provide updates.
  • Educate patients and families regarding postoperative care and recovery plans.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Current and valid RN license.
  • CPR and BLS certification required.
  • Experience in preoperative and/or PACU nursing preferred.
  • Completion of Rhythm Interpretation Exam.
  • Additional health credentials/proofs: MMR, Fit Test, Hepatitis B, TB Test, Varicella, Tdap, Physical/Health Statement.
