Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00). Weekend coverage is required.

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will provide outstanding patient care to adults and geriatrics facing critical conditions, including those with neuro/stroke and cardiac issues. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for monitoring patient status, administering treatments, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a PCU setting.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status.
• Administer medications and follow prescribed treatment protocols.
• Utilize advanced skills in cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Manage high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP therapies.
• Assist with post-operative care for cardiology patients.
• Engage with families regarding patient care and health education.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a PCU or similar environment.
• Current RN license to practice in South Carolina.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred.
• Strong skills in managing cardiac drips and understanding heparin protocols.
