Job Description

The Ultrasound Tech performs routine and specialized sonographic testing, provides emergency on-call coverage, and undertakes necessary clerical tasks to support patient testing. This role is essential in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services in a professional healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic general ultrasound examinations.
• Use sonographic skills to identify anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort while in care.
• Prepare patients for examinations and explain procedures thoroughly.
• Consult with referring physicians and review medical records to determine appropriate procedures.
• Operate complex ultrasound equipment and maintain technical standards.
• Perform ultrasound-assisted procedures, including biopsies.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and address equipment issues.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Schedule and coordinate ultrasound exams while avoiding double bookings.
• Provide education to patients about testing processes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate degree preferred; graduate of an accredited ARDMS school of sonography.
• Current license in the State of Maine.
• ARDMS registration is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
• Strong teamwork and high-stress situation management skills are essential.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

This position requires a daytime shift.
