X-Ray Technologist

Schedule

Weekends: Friday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM. 36 hours preferred; would consider 40 hours. On call 2-3 shifts per month with the requirement to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic procedures by verifying patients' identity and reviewing physician orders, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physician orders before x-ray procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to obtain radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions they might have.
• Position patients appropriately, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Maintain radiologic equipment, reporting any damage or malfunction promptly.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols to keep radiation dosage to patients as low as possible.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to confirm patient details and specifications.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure correct image identification and PACS system submissions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State (NYS) license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
• Level 1 trauma center experience is required.
• Recent operating room experience with c-arm/o-arm (within the last 8 months).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
