Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit will provide comprehensive care to patients presenting with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues, often supporting individuals with complex comorbidities. The nurse will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on de-escalation, patient safety, and stabilization before potential transfer to higher levels of care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients.
• Administer medications and interventions as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention methods effectively.
• Monitor and document patient progress and participate in treatment planning.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding mental health conditions and treatment plans.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must have at least 1 year of psych nursing experience.
• Prefer experience in medical settings (MS, MS-Tele, PCU, or ICU).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• One of the following certifications is required prior to starting: Handle with Care, TRUST Training, CPI, PMCS, or MOAB.
