Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role within the Health System's mission and values. The RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for assigned patients during their shift. The role encompasses delivering care based on scientific knowledge and clinical skills, while also guiding and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
- Assist in planning and directing non-RN staff.
- Manage care for post-operative open heart patients.
- Administer pre- and post-procedure care for patients with radial and femoral access.
- Provide proficient cardiac monitoring, including interpreting cardiac rhythm strips.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities.
- Manage chest tubes and other drainage systems effectively.
- Float to all units within skill level as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing.
- Post-operative open heart care experience is required.
- Critical care experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with chest tube management and other drain management.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
- Active Ohio RN License or Compact RN License.
- Skills checklist pertinent to the specialty (PCU) current within the last year.
