Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) provides expert nursing care while demonstrating an understanding of the complex needs of patients undergoing open-heart surgery. This role requires proficient EPIC charting and a strong background in managing both routine and complex care needs.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided accurately and comprehensively.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks as necessary to manage clinical situations effectively.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of two years of CVOR and EPIC charting experience required.
- 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- BLS certification required (AHA only).
- Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
