Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12.0 hours per week.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed. This role requires evaluation of patients and recommendation of treatment plans, as well as patient education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Explain the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients via various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine further evaluation needs.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and recognize basic arrhythmias.
• Assist with procedures related to respiratory care according to policy.
• Provide care for tracheostomies, including tube insertion and removal.
• Perform arterial punctures per established policy.
• Facilitate preventative maintenance and repair of respiratory equipment.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate with physicians regarding therapy efficiency and report necessary information during hand-offs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Respiratory Therapy license.
• BLS and ACLS certification required.
• Experience with intensive respiratory care preferred.
