Job Description

The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Wound/Ostomy Care patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care; maintains clinical competencies through continuing education; delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available; provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive wound and ostomy care to patients.
• Utilize nursing process in patient assessments and care planning.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment.
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuing education.
• Delegate and prioritize patient care based on staff expertise.
• Supervise assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed; weekend availability is required as needed. There are no on-call requirements.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years recent experience as a Wound Care RN in a hospital setting.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Current Texas or multi-state compact RN license.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
