This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

2 eight-hour shifts (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM) and 2 twelve-hour shifts (11:00 AM to 11:30 PM) for a total of 40 hours per week. Scheduled weekends and holidays are expected, as previously agreed upon changes to the schedule.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our 25-bed acute inpatient psychiatry unit. The unit provides care for patients with presentations of acute psychosis, including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and dual diagnosis. The RN will take on diverse responsibilities including charge nurse duties, admission nurse oversight, and medication administration. All nursing staff are trained across multiple roles to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate nursing staff for a designated number of patients.
• Conduct patient admissions and oversee care plans.
• Administer medications and monitor patient vitals.
• Facilitate patient groups and health education sessions.
• Assist nursing staff in patient care activities and support mental health assistants.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques as needed; restraints used only as a last resort.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Prior experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
