This is a full-time position with 8-hour shifts, primarily on days. The preferred schedule includes working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, with Thursday off.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Radiation Oncology Clinic is responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care while adhering to professional nursing standards and ethical guidelines. This role involves assessing patients' physical, emotional, and educational needs, developing and coordinating individualized care plans, administering treatments and medications, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to oncology patients undergoing cancer treatment, including radiation therapy.
- Assess and manage treatment-related side effects.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and symptom management.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and promote evidence-based practice.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and mentor staff and students.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Current New York State RN license is required.
- BLS Certification is required.
- Oncology experience preferred, with specific experience in radiation oncology and brachytherapy.
- BSN and specialty certification are preferred.
