Job Description

The Registered Nurse on Maternal Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the Maternal Child Health department. This position will work collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Maternal Child Health (AWONN, ACOG, NNA, AORN). Responsibilities include the observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex.
  • Quickly recognize normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status based on past clinical experience.
  • Utilize a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs.
  • Plan for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs.
  • Involve patients and families in establishing care goals.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems.
  • Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families.
  • Act as a resource to peers and remain current on CMC policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Facilitate the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Post Partum experience required.
  • Must be able to independently care for mother/baby couplets as traveler will staff Post Partum often.
  • Active RN license required.
