Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Schedule

Shift: Rotation between day (7a-7pm) and night (7pm-7am) shifts, requiring commitment during the holiday season.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families in urgent and emergent situations. As a critical care provider, the ED RN performs comprehensive assessments, prioritizes patient care based on Clinical Triage Standards, and applies appropriate interventions to manage both life-threatening and routine emergencies. The ED RN engages with patients and families, addressing comfort needs, providing education, and ensuring safety throughout the patient's experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments to determine patients' urgent care needs and prioritize care.
• Utilize a variety of invasive and non-invasive techniques to manage acute care situations.
• Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, addressing both physical and emotional needs.
• Document critical information and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
• Prepare and educate patients and families regarding diagnostic and post-emergency care.
• Identify and report any signs of domestic violence or abuse as necessary.
• Participate in team efforts to create a healing environment, ensuring open communication about patient care processes.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• One year of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or RQI accepted).
• NIHSS certification preferred.
• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license.
