Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) ensures the delivery of quality care by adhering to the nursing care plan. Responsibilities include supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while actively engaging in patient care and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Safety and superior patient outcomes are a priority.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission to establish an individualized care plan.
  • Identify teaching needs and goals from the nursing admission assessment.
  • Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care following the nursing process.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient education on the day of admission.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding patient status among care providers to support continuity of care.
  • Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel while delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain safety standards for both patients and the work environment.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and efficient work environment on the unit.
  • Identify personal professional growth opportunities through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
  • ACLS required prior to the first shift (for specific facilities).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience; one year of ICU experience preferred.
