Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatry

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Rotating shift schedule, including day, evening, and night shifts; weekends and holidays required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Psychiatry Unit will conduct intake assessments, develop nursing care plans, assist in medication administration, and collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care for patients with mental health issues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care, making diagnoses regarding medical and emotional status.
• Recommend treatment options and design treatment plans in consultation with behavioral health staff.
• Administer medications, noting patient reactions and arranging further medical attention when needed.
• Assist patients in understanding the nature of their emotional disturbances and the necessity for treatment.
• Maintain a safe environment for both staff and patients, ensuring treatment effectiveness and documenting all patient interactions.
• Perform administrative tasks including recordkeeping and responding to patient inquiries.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Active NY RN License
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing
• CPI Certification
