Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specializes in providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients. This role involves monitoring patients, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care for assigned ICU patients ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Utilize advanced technical skills to interpret critical lab results and monitor patient conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV medication and blood products.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, including physicians and allied health staff, for care planning.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and continuous monitoring of patients' conditions.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health maintenance.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care experience required; Level II trauma experience necessary.
- Preferred experience in a teaching hospital and Level I trauma.
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required; trauma certification (ATCAR) or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU preferred.
- Must possess a valid Maryland or compact RN license upon submission.
